SU-type shelter hatches with gas-operated lifting mechanisms are designed to open from the top. A supporting lifting mechanism can be added to the SU-IVR, SU-III, and SU-I models to allow for horizontal installation and top-opening operation. The hatch flange is constructed from beams reinforced with cladding plates. The hatches can be upgraded with armor plates for shrapnel/ballistic protection and special materials for fire resistance.SU-type hatch covers feature a multi-point locking system with a gear or lever mechanism, equipped with a rubber gasket for gas tightness, providing better protection against blast wave pressure.
